INSEP beat Partizan Belgrade 69-68 in a thrilling Friday morning game at Basket City, courtesy of a last minute Anthony Racine shot. Despite Nikola Radicevic picking up 24 points for the opposition, INSEP had just enough to overcome their Serbian rivals.
The game was level all the way through the first half, with both teams having spells in the lead. Boris Dallo twice pulled INSEP back in front in the final minute of a quarter, hitting a three-pointer towards the end of the first and a late lay up before the half time buzzer. INSEP had racked up the most points in the first quarter, but Partizan had outscored them in the second. At the break, the score was an immensely close 30-29 to INSEP, setting up another intense half of basketball.
Damien Inglis showed off his own perimeter shooting skills in the third quarter, hitting three in a row and then providing two assists which suddenly had INSEP twelve points clear -cut back to eleven by the end of the quarter. Inspired by Nikola Radicevic and Nikola Majic, Partizan fired back to not only pull level but also go ahead on a stunning run of scoring. However, with INSEP down 66-68, Racine hit the definitive three from Alexandre Chassang's assist to take the win for the French junior team.
