Buducnost rolls to its first win


Buducnost VOLI Podgorica got its first victory of the 2014-15 Eurocup campaign by routing Stelmet Zielona Gora 76-90 on the road and leaving the hosts at the bottom of the table in Group F. A 19-7 run late in the second quarter allowed the visitors to get a 34-47 cushion at halftime and they never looked back. Suad Sehovic and JR Reynolds led the way for the winners with 17 points apiece, Bojan Subotic netted 11 and Omar Cook amassed 10 with 5 assists. Adam Hrychaniuk scored 13 for the hosts, Aaron Cel and Chevon Troutman chipped in 12 each, while Lukasz Koszarek netted 11 with 8 assists and Steven Burtt Jr. contributed 11 points.

Cel, from long distance, gave a 9-5 margin early in the game to the hosts. The teams exchanged leads, with Darko Planinic slamming the ball to put Buducnost in front 14-17 before Quinton Hosley drilled a layup fixing the score at 16-17 after 10 minutes. Seven unanswered points from the visiting team, with a Reynolds dunk and a three-pointer by William Sheehey, gave Buducnost a 22-28 cushion. Lukasz Koszarek kept Zielona Gora close by hitting from downtown, 27-28, but Buducnost dominated the last part of the quarter, using a 19-7 charge, led by Reynolds and Cook, to lead 34-47 at halftime.

Vladmir Dasic raised the difference to 40-56 at the midway point of the third quarter. Despite a big effort from Hrychaniuk, Zielona Gora never got the margin to single digits; Przemyslaw Zamojski’s layup finished the third quarter at 59-69. Hrychaniuk scored in the paint to rally the hosts within 65-71, but back-to-back three-pointers by Reynolds and Subotic reestablished a safe 12-points margin for the visitors. Two more baskets from downtown by Sehovic and Reynolds completed an amazing 19-7 Buducnost charge to ensure them a deserved victory.
