Le Mans took a crucial 88-51 victory over Artland Dragons to raise its record to 2-2 in Group C. The hosts also claimed the potential tiebreaker between the teams. Le Mans used a 14-2 run late in the second quarter for a 43-28 advantage at halftime and then 16 unanswered points in the third quarter to go ahead by 30. Cam Long led six Le Mans scorers in double figures with 15 points, Cuthbert Victor added 14, Charles Khaudi bagged 13, JP Batista 12 with 9 rebounds and Alian Koffi and Khalid El-Amin 10 apiece. Anthony King led Artland with 12 points while Bryce Taylor scored 11.
El-Amin hit a jumper to open the scoring. A dunk by Taylor gave a 2-4 advantage to the guests, and after the game was tied 6-6, a three-point-play by Victor made it 9-6 for Le Mans. Seven unanswered points capped by El-Amin from downtown increased the margin for the home team to 16-8, but a Petar Popovic dunk and jumper closed the gap to 16-14. Batista and Koffi in the paint restored a 20-14 margin, which El-Amin from the foul line raised again to 22-15. Popovic and Cameron Long exchanged scored to finish the first quarter at 24-17. Batista’s short jumper helped Le Mans to 28-19, then Marquez Haynes and Anthony King with layups and Popovic with a free throw cut the deficit to 29-24. Le Mans went on an 8-0 run fueled by Pape Sy, Victor, Koffi and Long to for a 37-24 difference late in the quarter. After free throws from Demond Mallet, another 6-0 spurt for Le Mans gave them a 43-26 advantage before Taylor with two free throws fixed the final 43-28 score at halftime for the hosts.
Charles Khaudi and Taylor exchanged layups, then Long hit a three in-between jumpers from Taylor and King to make it 48-34 early in the third quarter. Batista opened a 16-0 run fueled by a pair of threes from El Amin and Henri Khaudi to be up 64-34 with three minutes left in the quarter. Johannes Strasser from long distance ended the Artlans drought from beyond the arc, and after a free throw from Sy, Andrew Drevo hit back-to-back triples to finish after thirty minutes on 65-43. Two dunks by Koffi raised again the margin to 69-43. Taylor and King bagged layups for the Dragons, then Charles Khaudi from the foul line scored for 78-47. Thomas Ceci extended the cushion to 84-49, and Batista scored for the final 88-51.
