Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar took sole possession of first place in Group F by routing PAOK Thessaloniki 87-46. The hosts took charge in the first quarter and never looked back, proceeding to outscore the visitors in every quarter. The difference was 19 at the half and peaked at 45 in the fourth quarter. The hosts made 9 of 16 threes (56.3%) and outrebounded PAOK 46-32. Maxim Grigoryev and Krunoslav Simon led the winners with 15 points apiece, Derrick Brown scored 14 and Anthony Randolph added 11. Julian Vaughn led the PAOK attack with 12 points and Kostas Kakaroudis netted 11 in defeat.

Simon scored the game’s first basket before Vaughn heated up and scored three times as PAOK took a 2-8 advantage. Randolph tied the game with a three-pointer and Brown pushed the hosts back ahead 12-10. Richard Hendrix extended the lead on the offensive glass before Grigoryev’s basket-plus-foul made it 18-11. Kakaroudis’s three-point play ended the opening quarter at 18-14. Grigoryev and Simon drained threes early in the second half before Simon’s steal set Brown up for a layup and a double-digit lead. Aaron Miles made free throws and then set up Simon for his next basket. A dunk by Brown capped a 12-0 surge for a 33-16 lead. After Kevin Langford split free throws, Simon nailed another triple for a 19-point advantage. Christos Saloustros free throws and a Kakaroudis three-pointer showed signs of a fight from PAOK, but Nikita Kurbanov answered from downtown and before long Randolph’s slam took the lead into the 20s. Jake Odum’s ended the half at 45-26.

Marc Carter started the second half for PAOK with a three-pointer, but before long Hendrix and Brown had the hosts cruising at 53-30. Kakaroudis scored from downtown, but Brown soon nailed a triple to make it a 25-point difference. Randolph made it 62-33 through three quarters. Grigoryev made another three to open the fourth before Saloustros scored for PAOK. Andrey Zubkov added a three as the lead soared to 72-35. Vaughn scored his first basket since the first quarter, however the Lokomotiv show did now stop as Alexey Zhukanenko free throws pushed the difference into the 40s. Zubkov free throws gave Lokomotiv its largest lead, 85-40, as it cruised to a convincing victory.

Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar
"We were worried because of Delaney’s absence and before the game we found out that Voronov’s injury will keep him out, so we were left with an unusual rotation. But our schedule allowed us some rest and practices – a rare occasion. We had some things we needed to figure out after the previous matches and today we managed to overcome our difficulties. I’d like to highlight what Kurbanov, Hendrix and Balashov did today defensively – their work on that end contributed greatly to the final result. "
MARKOPOULOS, SOULIS
PAOK Thessaloniki
"We knew we had to play a tough game against one of the competition’s best teams. We had our injury problems ahead of the game, and these problems multiplied over the course of the game. Jake Odum wasn’t practicing for past 10 days and we lost Charalampidis and Margaritis in the first minutes of today’s game. When you have a limited roster and play two games a week, it’s hard to win. We need to see what we can learn from this game. I want to congratulate Lokomotiv for a good win."

"We showed a lot of respect to the opponent and started the game playing tough defense from the first minutes. The final score says everything about our attitude. PAOK kept it competitive in the first quarter when they made a few shots, but already in the second we felt that game was on our side completely."
KAKAROUDIS, KOSTAS
PAOK Thessaloniki
For us it’s clear; if we don’t play as a team we lose 80% of our strength. Playing as a team is our main goal. I wouldn’t say that the level of the two teams is totally different, but Lokomotiv showed today what’s going to happen when we don’t play to our level. We have a couple of guys injured and we have a tough schedule, but that shouldn’t be an excuse because everyone’s in the same situation. Personally I promise I’ll be better in our home game against Lokomotiv and the whole team will be more ready. And we’ll have the support of our fans. That increases our chances.
