Stellazzurra Basketball Academy Rome picked up its second victory in two games in the ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT by winning comfortably 70-47 over Maccabi Teddy Tel Aviv in Group A in Rome. Andrea La Torre collected 15 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals for the host team while Lazar Nikolic and Kristinn Palsson both scored 11 points in the win, which improved Stellazzurra to 2-0. Maccabi dropped to 0-2 despite Dragan Bender scoring 13 points and Amit Ebo added 12 points in the loss.

After Maccabi was up 2-3, Rome scored six straight points. Nikolic drained two three-pointers in helping Stellazzurra open a 19-11 lead, which was 19-13 after one quarter. La Torre and Nikolic hit three-balls as Stellazzurra opened the second quarter on an 8-0 run. Nicola Savoldelli added two treys as the hosts increased the lead to 42-18. The advantage was 42-20 at intermission.

Bender scored 10 points as Maccabi tried to fight back into the game, trimming the deficit to 50-37 with three minutes left in the third quarter. But Stellazzurra tallied the final seven points in the quarter to lead 57-37 after 30 minutes. Maccabi would not get closer the rest of the game as the cushion grew to 69-41 with less than three minutes to play.
