Bayern take down Partizan for first win

Host side U18 FC Bayern Munich grabbed its first victory of the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament Munich by knocking off U18 Partizan NIS Belgrade 61-66 in Group A. Matej Rudan nailed 6 three-pointers in scoring 26 points to go with 14 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks as Bayern moved to 1-1 in the group. Jason George added 16 points in the win. Dusan Tanaskovic picked up 19 points, 16 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks and Lazar Stefanovic had 19 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals for Partizan, which made just 1/16 (6.3%) three-pointers in falling to 0-2.

Duro Dautovic opened the scoring for Partizan but the Belgrade team went scoreless for more than 5 minutes and Mohamed Sillah had 4 points in helping Bayern build a 2-10 lead and a Nicolas Buchholz three-pointer made it 3-13. Stefanovic helped get Partizan within 12-17 after 10 minutes. Bayern failed to score in the first 3 minutes of the second quarter but did not give up the lead and was up 18-23 after Bruno Albrecht’s score. Tanaskovic scored 4 points to cut it to 24-27 but Rudan nailed a three-ball at the halftime buzzer to put Bayern up 24-30 at the break. Rudan added two more threes and the host team pushed the gap to 30-37. And Bayern was still ahead 36-40 before Partizan scored 6 straight points to nose in front and led 47-46 after 30 minutes. Rudan continued his barrage of treys but a Stefanovic three-ball had Partizan up 54-51. And it was 57-55 with almost 5 minutes left when Rudan knocked down three-pointers to bookend an 0-11 run to make it 57-66 and decide the game.
