Alba Berlin finished third in Group A by edging Union Olimpija 79-74 in overtime on Saturday. Alba grabbed its first win in Group A and Olimpija was fourth at 0-3. Both teams will fight for fifth to eighth place. Ismet Akpinar paced the winners with 21 points. Robon Jorch had 12, Mauricio Marin added 11 while Lennard Boekstegers got 10 for Alba. Jusuf Nurkic led Olimpija with 24 points and 17 rebounds. Erjon Kastrati added 18 points while Jules Akodo had 11 for the Slovenian powerhouse.

Olimpija opened the game with a 2-9 run that Kastrati capped with a free throw. Alba improved its defense late in the first quarter and a three-point play by Akpinar got his team within 10-13 after 10 minutes. A three-pointer by Marin allowed Alba to get its first lead, 21-20, midway through the second quarter. An outstanding Akodo and a layup by Kastrati kept Olimpija within 31-30 at halftime. Nurkic shined after the break and got some help from Kastrati and Grega Sajevic to give Olimpija a 46-51 margin after 30 minutes. It all came down to the final minute, as a jumper by Kastrati tied it at 64-64. Jorch scored around the basket but a layup by Matic Rebec sent the game to overtime, 64-64. A free throw by Rebec tied it again, 73-73, late in the extra period but Akpinar had all points in a 6-1 run that allowed Alba to win the game down the stretch.
