Cedrick Banks - Nancy SLUC Nancy was protagonist of two big comebacks, first with a 16-0 run and later from 49-59 to jump ahead for good in the last quarter and get rid of Brose Baskets at home on Tuesday night by 93-83. Brose Baskets was superior in rebounds during most of the game even though it lost the battle in the end by 40-39, but was also better in the steals-turnovers ratio, but the 25 converted free throws of nancy were no match for Brose Baskets' 9. The win allows Nancy to climb to a 4-2 record in Group A tied for first place with Lietuvos Rytas and Hemofarm, while Brose Baskets drops to 1-5 and is at the bottom of the standings with a very complicated future ahead. Cedrick Banks led the winners with his 23 points including 5 of 8 triples, Branko Milisavljevic and Tariq Kirksay added 15 apiece, while Cyril Julian posted 11 of his own for Nancy. Darren Fenn was the best scorer for the losing side with 17 points, DeJuan Collins added 15, Chris Ensminger posted 12 and Derrick Zimmerman nailed 11.

Despite a starting 2-0, K'Zell Wesson sparked a 0-7 run with his triple and DeJuan Collins capped it with a layup for 2-7. The burst reached a 2-10 and it wasn't until Dan McClintock appeared with his layup for a Nancy basket and a 4-10. However, a triple by Collins and a three-point play by Derrick Zimmerman made a 4-16 for the guests. Nancy's offense had real problems trying to play over the guests' defense, while Adam Harrington blasted a new triple and Ivan Pavic left a layup for a 10-23 forcing Nancy's timeout. That worked as Nancy managed to forge a small 4-0 run capped by Maxime Zianveni but the guests dis the same as Pavic closed the first period for a 14-28. Harrington opened the second quarter with a three, but then the hosts reacted with a 13-0 run sparked by two straight triples by Cedrick Banks and Aurelien Salmon, finishing at 27-31 after another Salmon three. There was time for a new Nancy triple by Banks that made it a 1-point game, 30-31. Collins finally gave some air to Brose Baskets with a jumper, and after that it looked like the German team resisted the stroke. Harrington blasted a new three for a 38-44 Brose Baskets edge but two free throws by Branko Milisavljevic left things with a 40-44 at the break.

De Juan Collins - Brose BasketsFor the start of the second half, Brose Baskets was still alive with a new triple by Wesson but McClintock replied with a three-point play for 45-49. Darren Fenn had also a fast reply on his hand with a new triple, as the 15 turnovers of Nancy were proving to be too heavy a burden to resist. Brose Baskets was low with 6 and that showed when Collins score again and Fenn posted his second triple for a new doule-digit lead, 49-59. Milisavljevic found space for a three and Banks added a bucket for a 5-0 that made it 56-62. Chris Ensminger's three-point play however, made it 59-68 after 30 minutes. The last period started with Nancy focused on the game. Tariq Kirksay posted a three-point play and Banks punished a technical foul of Brose Baskets with four straight free throws to make it 70-72. In the end, two free throws by Cyril Julian and a new three by Kirksay allowed Nancy to tie the game at 76-76 with 3 minutes to go. Starting from there, the hosts found way for a 4-0 burst, but Fenn stopped the bleeding with a triple. Julian forced a three-point situation and then Milisavljevic hit four free throws to put Nancy ahead by 8 points, 88-80, in the last moments of the game as Nancy cruised to th efinal win in the last plays and Brose Baskets saw how a good chance slipped from its hands.

Head Coaches

MONSCHAU, JEAN-LUC
Nancy
"Tonight, we saw why Bamberg played the Top 16 last season. Dirk Bauermann is a talented coach, he made a great job. It’s a collective victory and I want to mention the good game of Aurelien Salmon, he helped us to come back. We did a good game from the three-point line and my new point guard made a strong first game."
BAUERMANN, DIRK
Brose Baskets
“Congratulations to Jean Luc and his team. They made a great job, they played a very good fourth quarter. My team is very proud, I think we made a good game overall and we had to give a lot of credit to Nancy because they came back after a bad start.”

Players

KIRKSAY, TARIQ
Nancy
"We started ugly, it was incredible. We lost too many balls. But we came back more aggressive in defense and offense after the halftime. Bamberg is a proud team. They wanted to take a revenge after their home loss. But we won the battle on the court and we won the game."
BANKS, CEDRICK
Nancy
"It’s was a hard game. We played together during all the game, so it’s a good win for us. Bamberg is a great team. I wish them all the best. Tonight, both teams played good, but we won, that’s basketball."
YARBROUGH, VINCENT
Brose Baskets
“We played well during 25 minutes, after that, Nancy came back. They shot well from the 3-point line and we didn't.”
