In arguably one of the best games in this Eurocup season, PGE Turow rallied from a 17-point deficit to edge Alba Berlin 91-87 in double overtime in Poland on Tuesday. Turow moved up to 2-2 in Group H to tie for Buducnost for second place in this group. Meanwhile, Alba dropped to 3-1 but will advance to the Last 16 if it wins one of its two remaining games. David Jackson paced the winners with 23 points and 8 rebounds, including a layup-plus-foul that sealed the outcome late in the second overtime. Konrad Wysocki added 19 points, Daniel Kickert, who went scoreless in the opening 38 minutes, had 16 while Ronald Moore got 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for Turow. Derrick Allen led Alba with 21 points. Heiko Schaffartzik added 17, Torin Francis had 16 while DaShaun Wood got 12 and 9 assists for the guests, that led 39-56 midway through the third quarter. Three-pointers by Moore and Wysocki brought Turow back to life and a jumper by Kickert brought the hosts within 69-71. Allen split free throws but Jackson made 3-of-4 in the final 3-4 seconds to send the game to overtime, 72-72. A big basket by Allen allowed Alba to force a second extra period, 80-80. Jackson led a 9-1 run that allowed Turow to seal the outcome down the stretch and get an incredible home win.
Francis got Alba going with back-to-back layups but free throws by Gedrius Gustas and a layup by Aaron Cel tied it at 4-4. Francis scored again and Allen split free throws but a jumper by Cel kept the hosts within 6-7. Bryce Taylor struck from downtown to make Turow call timeout at 6-10. Allen scored down low and added a fast break layup for a 6-14 Alba edge. Wyoscki tried to change things with his first points and Artur Mielczarek bettered Francis' layup with a triple for a 10-16 score. A jumper by Yassin Idbihi and free throws by Moore fixed the score at 12-18 after 10 minutes. Wysocki sank a turnaround jumper early in the second quarter but Ibdihi and Kyle Weaver fueled a 0-6 run that gave Alba a double-digit lead, 14-24. Jackson and and Marko Simonovic traded baskets and a layup by Weaver gave Alba a 16-28 edge. Schaffartzik and Simonovic made foul shots but a three-pointer by Cel got Turow within 20-31. Allen scored in the paint and added a turnaround jumper to boost Alba's lead to 20-37. John Edwards hit a one-handed jumper in the lane and Jackson followed a jumper with free throws but Wood and Francis gave Alba a 26-41 lead at halftime.
Jackson followed a jumper with a three-pointer right after the break and added an off-balance shot that gave Turow some hope, 33-44. Wood kept pacing Alba with free throws but consecutive jumpers by Wysocki got the hosts within 37-46. Francis sank free throws and a reverse layup by Weaver gave Alba some fresh air at 37-50. Gustas sank a jumper but Sven Schultze and Schaffartzik struck from downtown to break the game open, 39-56. Francis scored down low but Moore improved that with a three-point play. Schaffartzik shined with a floating layup but Wysocki sank back-to-back triples and Moore beat the buzzer with an off-balance shot for a 50-61 Turow deficit after 30 minutes. Edwards took over with a put-back dunk early in the fourth quarter, igniting a 6-0 run that Wysocki capped with an easy basket for a 56-61 score with 7 minutes left. Francis shined with a jump hook and free throws by Allen gave Alba a 58-67 lead. Moore had 4 unanswered points and free throws by Wysocki and Daniel Kickert got Turow within 65-69 with 1:35 left. Schaffartzik made foul shots but consecutive jumpers by Jackson and Kickert made it a two-point game, 69-71, with 33.5 seconds to go. Taylor missed a shot and Jackson was fouled with 3.4 seconds left but he missed his first attempt. Turow fouled on Allen, who split foul shots, giving Turow a last chance. Jackson drew a foul and did not miss this time to force overtime, 72-72.
Kickert downed a three-pointer to complete his team's comeback, 75-72, early in the extra period. Schaffartzik beat the hosts' zone defense with a bomb from downtown but Kickert nailed another triple for a 78-75 Turow edge. Schaffartzik sank a jumper to make Alba enter the final minute with a 78-77 deficit. Schaffartzik split free throws with 26.9 seconds left but Kickert hit a driving layup for a 80-78 score with 3 seconds to go. Alba called timeout and Allen scored an off-balance shot in the paint to take the game to double overtime, 80-80.
Allen stayed on fire with a baseline jumper early in the second extra period. Wysocki split free throws but Wood answered from downtown for an 81-85 Alba lead. Kickert nailed his third triple and a foul shot by Wysocki tied the game again, 85-85, with over 2 minutes left. Jackson shined with a fast break layup and Allen split free throws for a 87-86 score with 46.9 seconds left. Jackson took over with a wild layup-plus-foul and a free throw by Kickert allowed Turow to seal the outcome and win the game in unbelievable fashion!
