CEZ Nymburk got its first ULEB Cup win of the season by defeating Panellinios of Greece at home by 75-65 in a Group F showdown. Numburk climbs to a 1-2 record in the group and ties with Panellinios, who drops down to the same record. Radoslav rancik led the way for the winners with 17 points and 9 rebounds, Monty Mack added 14 and both Pavel Benes and Petr Benda had 12 points apiece for the winners. mamadou N'Diaye was the best man for the losers with his 13 points and only Dimitris Kalaitzdis scored in double digits with his 10 points. The game was turned upside down by Nymburk in the final period with a 27-13 partial score led by Mack and Rancik that left Panellinios with no time to react.

After the few minutes being dominated by the hosts, Panellinios managed to get a first lead with an 8-10 with Mamadou N'Diaye as main protagonist. However, Nymburk wasn't intimidated by that circumstance and held on tight when Arthur Lee and Radoslav Rancik gave the team a new 3-point cushion, 17-14 at the end of the first quarter. Rancik also scored first in the second quarter but N'Diaye maintained Panellinios on guard for a 21-18. That sparked a Panellinios burst that included two triple by Milan Dozet for a 23-28 edge for the guests. Vangelis Sklavos joined the party as he was active in the first minutes on court, but Petr Benda led Nymburk in offense to keep distances at a reasonable level and Monty Mack sealed the fisrt half with two free throws to make it 34-38 at the break. Nymburk started to get at one point but Dozet blasted his third triple to keep Panellinios at a safe distance. The battle for rebounds was likewise balanced (23-21) but the team game of the guests was translated into 8 assists as Nymburk had only 4 and when Sklavos scored for 41-47 Panellinios could breathe more easily. However the last basket of three fell for Nymburk as Rancik made it 48-52. The last period started with a 10-2 burst for Nymburk capped by Rancik's three-point play that made it 58-54 for the delight of the home fans. Lewis Sims' triple put Panellinios back in the game in minute 34 but two free throws by Pavel Benes made it 65-60 as the final buzzer got closer. In the final minutes, Benes and Monty went to the free throw line to securely maintain Nymburk ahead until the end of the game.

"I think that except for the second quarter we reacted well on defense. In the halftime it was a critical time for us because Panellinios was taking command of the game. But it happens many times in basketball - players from the bench come out with a lot of heart like Benes, Necas and Mack. These players gave us a lift from the bench that we were missing in the first home game against Red Star. I think this is a very important win for us because it is the first one and also the first historic win of a Czech club in ULEB competition. We always come from behind against teams with bigger budgets, more experience and talent and the only way for us to compete is with heart, effort and good defense. Players deserve all the credit. I am also very happy about the number of fans that came to support us - it's again a new record in number of visitors for the Czech club basketball."

"We played a very tough game in which we controlled the rhythm and tempo of the game for 30 minutes. I can't give you a clear explanation about what happened in the last 7 minutes of the game. We somehow destroyed our own game. I think it all started with bad shot selection on offense and dribbled the ball too much. When we fell behind our nervousness even increased and Nymburk took advantage of that to take the lead. Nymburk's 27 points in the last quarter happened mainly due to our bad offense. The final score does not reflect the picture of the game."
