Cajasol Seville picked up its first victory at the Euroleague Basketball Nike International Junior Tournament - Milan by knocking off Team Brazil 66-54 in Group A action. Maksim Salash collected 13 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks to lead Cajasol while Diego Gallardo added 14 points. Seville, which took control of the game with a 14-0 run spanning the third and fourth quarters, improved to 1-1 in the group. Brazil dropped to 0-2 in the group despite 14 points from Lucas Vezaro, 12 points and 12 rebounds from Lucas Teodoro, and 11 points from Lucas Siewert.
Brazil hit the first two points of the game but it was the only lead the South Americans would have as Cajasol scored the next six points. Brazil trimmed it to 6-4 but Cajasol closed the first quarter on a 16-2 run to make 22-6 after 10 minutes. Seville scored the first two points of the second quarter to open its biggest lead at 24-6. Teodoro, Joao Borrego and Leonardo Jacon all nailed three-balls to get Brazil to within 28-18. At halftime, the Cajasol advantage was 34-22. Joao Borrego and Vezaro both drained two three-pointers early in the second half as Brazil cut the deficit down to 40-36. And the margin was 43-39 when Carlos Hidalgo and Gallardo hit long balls to spark a 14-0 run to push the Cajasol lead out to 57-39. Brazil responded with eight straight points to make it 57-47 with seven minutes left. But Seville would not let the South Americans closer the rest of the contest.
