Brose Baskets kept its slim chances for a spot in the elimination rounds alive with an 80-71 win over AEK Athens on Tuesday in Bamberg, Germany. The Brose Baskets defense kept AEK without a basket for over five minutes in the second quarter as it built a 41-32 halftime lead. The win sees Bamberg improve to 2-5 in Group A, the same record as AEK. DeJuan Collins led Brose Baskets with 19 points, while Robert Garrett and Darren Fenn added 13 each. Nestoras Kommatos led AEK with 14 points and 8 rebounds, Prodromos Nikolaidis added 13, Brent Scott 11 and Jasmin Perkovic 10. AEK's downfall was its 18 turnovers.

AEK stormed out of the gate with a Kommatos triple and a Sotirios Nikolaidis layup. Zelly Wesson got Bamberg on the board from downtown, but AEK kept firing away. Perkovic added a triple and Sotirios Nikolaidis slashed for another basket as the visitors went up 5-12. Chris Ensminger kept Brose Baskets in the picture, but Perkovic's three-point play put AEK up 8. Collins got the visitors going again with two layups and an assist on a Garrett three in between, before Kostas Maglos capped the opening quarter with a free throw that put AEK up 18-20. Fenn tied the game with the first shot of the second period and Tim Begley and Derrick Zimmerman put Brose Baskets up 24-20. Garrett and Begley took the hosts' lead to 6 as AEK started to struggle from the field. Bamberg continued to produce points via Collins, with AEK only answering occasionally from the field. Vincent Yarbrough's triple put Brose Baskets up 38-28 and Garrett increased the advantage to 11 with a three-point play before Ioannis Gkagkaloudis's layup – AEK's first field goal in over 5 minutes – made it 41-32 at halftime.

The teams came out for the second half a bit slower, with Scott's jumper the only points in the first three minutes. Collins woke up first with back-to-back layups to put Brose Baskets up 11 once more. Prodromos Nikolaidis and Garrett traded triples and then Kommatos and Wesson did the same before Ensminger and Begley each made a pair from the charity stripe to give Brose Baskets its biggest lead, 55-41. Prodromos Nikolaidis and Gkagkaloudis scored to end the period with the hosts ahead 55-45. Fenn started the final quarter with a three and later made four free throws during a 9-0 run that put the hosts ahead 67-47, essentially ending the game. Prodromos Nikolaidis and Kommatos tried towards the end, but Brose Baskets was in total control and cruised to a big win.

"Within 48 hours we totally regenerated and put on a really good effort on both ends of the court. Last weekend AEK Athens had a close game against Olympiacos, who are first in the Greek League. AEK is a good team and our vicotry shouldn't be underestimated. So we are really proud of it."
ALEXANDRIS, VANGELIS
AEK Athens
"First of all, I want to congratulate Brose Baskets, they have an astonishing athmosphere in the gym. We missed two players and the game was really good. But we were not able today to compete against a team like this."

Players

COLLINS, DeJUAN

"First of all this was a team effort. Everybody knew what he had to do. It was a bounce-back victory, after the tough game we had on Sunday. AEK Athens is a good team, but tonight we were better. This victory was really important to us."
SCOTT, BRENT
AEK Athens
"It was a good game. Brose Bamberg is a good team and this is a tough enviroment to play in. We came here trying to get a win, but it did not turn off well. So congratulations to them."
