Galatasaray Istanbul protected its home floor to register an important 77-69 win over visiting ratiopharm Ulm on Wednesday night at Sinan Erdem Dome. However, Auguste had a pair of baskets inside, Hayes added a put-back dunk and Goksenin Koksal hit from long range to restore the hosts' double-digit lead. With baskets few and far between, Ulm stayed in range by making 6 of 7 free throws and Patrick Miller's jumper cut it to 64-59 with exactly five minutes to go. Thompson's layup in traffic got the visitors within 66-64, but Harrison answered with a three-pointer and Hayes had a three-point play with 56 seconds left for a 72-66 lead that the hosts held on to.

Head Coaches

"First of all, I am happy for the win, but in terms of basketball, I am not happy. As Coach [Leibenath] mentioned, they missed four important players on their roster. We should have played much better than this and our reaction was really bad. Of course, this is an important win for us, for the next games in the group, and I think we have to improve the way we play basketball, especially offensively. I cannot complain about the players' ambition on the court and desire to win the game, but we need to make many more smart decisions on the court. About the game, we could have played much better, but I have to be happy with this win. Good luck to Ulm and its coach in the next games."
LEIBENATH, THORSTEN
ratiopharm Ulm
"First of all, I would like to congratulate Ertugrul [Erdogan] and his team for the win, a deserved win. Overall, they were the better team. We had a decent start to the game and when we had to use our bench, you could tell we were a little bit undermanned. Not only are we missing a couple of big men with Dwayne Evans, with Bogdan Radosavljevic, with Gavin Schilling, but also Per Guenther couldn't play today. So we were missing four players tonight and you could tell our level of play dropped when we had to use our bench. We were simply missing those guys. What I liked is that we continued fighting, even though we were down by big points. This is the character of the team; we always fight until the end and even put ourselves in the position to win this game, with minus-2 and two minutes to go, I think we had a fair chance to win this game, but Galatasaray played smart in the end and that's why they deserved to win."

Players

ARAPOVIC, MARKO
Galatasaray Istanbul
"It was a tough game and we got the win, which is what matters. We had a lot of missed shots and did a lof of stupid stuff from our side, but then again, we came here to win and did that. We have a lot to improve on, to work on, and I hope we can learn a lot from this game."
AUGUSTE, ZACH
Galatasaray Istanbul
"We are trying to get on a roll and we are trying to figure how we play and what we have to do to win. We need to continue to get better on defense, but also have to give credit to Ulm, that’s a great team."
