Maleye Ndoye - Paris Levallois EC13 (photo Paris Levallois)In an all-French showdown, Paris Levallois picked up its first Eurocup win by hitting 12triples in 83-65 win over Asvel Villeurbanne Lyon on Tuesday. Win improved Paris to 1-3, while Asvel dropped to 2-2 in Group C. Behind Landing Sane and Daniel Ewing, the hosts made a 21-4 run that bridged the first and second quarters, grabbed 31-16 lead and never relinquished it. Sane had 16 points and 7 rebounds, and Nicolas Lang also scored 16 for the hosts. Elton Brown had a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds, Malaye Ndoye netted 12, and Daniel Ewing had 7 points and 8 assists in victory. Chris Wright scored 13 for Asvel, Edwin Jackson had 11 and Amara Sy 10 in defeat.

Andrew Albicy opened the game with a triple, and Ndoye hit one behind the arc for Paris in the early going, but Jackson scored 6 of 7 free throws, and with a help from Wright and Travis Leslie, made it 10-12 midway through the first quarter. But the hosts did not allow a field goal for more than 4 minutes, as Sane hit a three to spark a run, and Ndoye hit another one to help make it 22-14 after the first quarter. With Ewing feeding his teammates, Sane added to a tally with a fastbreak layup and a triple in the second quarter, before Ndoye made it 31-16. The two teams proceeded to trade baskets, before a triple from Giovan Oniangue, and couple more from Lang extended it to 46-27. Marko Keselj hit Asvel’s first three-pointer of the night, sparking a run that cut it to 46-34 at halftime. After the break, Wright nailed a triple and Uche Nsonwu strung together 6 points for 51-43, but Albicy and Lang scored from downtown to snap the run and re-establish a double-digit advantage. Teams continued trading baskets throughout the third quarter, with Aloysius Anagonye and Brown helping the hosts to 63-52 at the end of three quarters, before Sane and Ewing created 6-0 at the start of the fourth as Paris pulled away to 69-52. Thomas Larrouquis hit a jumper, later a triple for Asvel, but Brown extended it to 19 points, before Sane and Lang hit triples in the closing minutes to round out the scoring.

Head Coaches

BEUGNOT, GREGOR
Paris Levallois
"Tonight, when we scored points, it was thanks to our defense. We found the defense we lost a month ago. This team needs to be built, and tonight it’s a step. They are still moments where we are ‘so-so’, we have to erase those moments."
VINCENT, PIERRE
Asvel Villeurbanne Lyon
"We had too many turnovers tonight. Paris Levallois had a lot of aggressiveness. They were intense during the entire game. But it is still a long road. At some moments during the game, we were a better side."

Players

SANE, LANDING
Paris Levallois
"We were very aggressive tonight, and we prevented ASVEL from developing its game. We have to keep this spirit for the rest of the season. Personally, this was a successful game for me."
SY, AMARA
Asvel Villeurbanne Lyon
"It’s been a tough game. Paris Levallois had a big game, they were aggressive in their man-to-man defense."
