U18 Real Madrid booked its ticket to the final of the Euroleague Basketball ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT Munich by beating U18 Darussafaka Istanbul 89-63. Mario Nakic led the way with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists for Madrid, which improved to 2-0 in Group B and locked up first place in the group and a date in Sunday’s final. Usman Garuba chipped in 14 points and 4 rebounds as Madrid extended its winning streak in ANGT qualifying games to 21 dating back to the final of the 2013 ANGT L’Hospitalet. Darussafaka got 12 points from Efe Arikan and Mert Akay picked up 8 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists but it was not enough as the team was out-rebounded 51-25 in dropping to 1-1 in the group.

After Madrid jumped ahead 7-2, Arikan and Can Turgut both hit three-pointers as Darussafaka took an 11-12 lead. Diego De Blas connected twice from long range at the other end and Madrid was up 19-14 after 10 minutes. Akay scored 6 points early in the second quarter and the Turkish side trailed just 24-22. And the point guard’s next basket had Darussafaka down 29-27. The advantage was 35-30 when Garuba tallied 5 points in a 10-0 run to go up 45-30. And it was 47-32 at the break.

Madrid held Darussafaka scoreless for the first two minutes of the second half and pushed the lead to 20 points - 52-32. Cagdas Atbas and Tibet Gorener both hit three-pointers as Darussafaka tried to stay close at 55-40. But Nakic scored 6 points as the lead increased to 64-42 and was 68-46 after 30 minutes. Madrid continued to pile on as Carlos Unanue came off the bench for 5 points in pushing the lead to 75-50. It was still 81-53 when Darussafaka let young 2002-born prospect Gorener have more action and he score 8 straight points but the game had long been decided.
