Darussafaka holds on in Ljubljana
Darussafaka Tekfen Istanbul got its return to the 7DAYS EuroCup off to a great start with a road win, holding off Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana 73-79 on Wednesday night at Arena Stozice. Darussafaka led for the majority of the second half, but after falling behind late finished the game with a 2-9 run in the final 3 and a half minutes to pull out the victory. Cedevita was the first team to pull away. Back-to-back Simonovic triples sparked a 12-0 Cedevita run to finish the first quarter with a 24-12 lead. Stipanovic extended it to 28-14 early in the second, but Darussafaka answered with triples from Lamb, Sinan Guler and Jarrod Jones in a 0-13 run. More threes, one from Lamb and one from Kartal Ozmizrak, helped the visitors take a 35-39 edge into halftime. One triple from Lamb and a pair from Browne helped push the lead to 43-54 midway through the third. Miller-McIntyre fueled the hosts and Blazic hit a half-court shot at the end of the third quarter as Olimpija slowly rallied. Miller-McIntyre scored 6 more points driving to the basket and Muric nailed a corner three-pointer to give the hosts a 71-70 lead. But Johnathan Hamilton had a put-back dunk and Lamb added a triple to make it 71-75 before Browne put the finishing touch with a spinning driving layup to make it 73-77 with 26 seconds left, as Darussafaka held on.
Game-changing run
Olimpija led 28-14 in the second quarter and seemed to be in control when Darussafaka answered with 13 consecutive points, including a triple apiece from Doron Lamb, Sinan Guler and Jarrod Jones. The free throw story
