Chris Ensminger - Telekom BonnIn a game with no significant impact in the Group D fate, honor was at stake when Telekom Bonn finally managed to pull a win in the very last play of teh very last game of its season. The German team beat Besiktas Cola Turka at home by 87-86 after Johannes Strasser blasted a three in the last play of the game to give his team a hard earned win. Besiktas dominated during 30 minutes, but a 10-1 run to start the last period allowed the hosts to be back in the game with a bang. Besiktas reacted and had the winning hand, but in the last play the mistakes of the last period cost the Turkish team the win. Therefore, Telekom Bonn ends hi Eurocup run this season with a 1-5 record in Group D while Besiktas ends with the same numbers. Chris Ensminger led the winners with 18 points, Patrick Flomo added 15 and Bryce Taylor and Tim Ohlbrecht had 11 each. For Besiktas, Engin Atsur and Brad Newley had 17 points each and Haluk Yildrim and Adem Oren posted 13 each.

With Kevin Fletcher's three and Brad Newley's layup, the guests were already leading by 2-5, but Chris Ensminger kept Telekom Bonn in the game by tying at 6-6, but a new 0-5 run for Besiktas Cola Turka allowed teh guests to pull away again, 6-11 after Muratcan Guler's bucket and Guler himself scored again to enlarge the gap to 6-15. Jared Jordan finally arrived with his wake up call for Bonn thanks to his personal 7-0 run against Besiktas to make it 13-15. Patrick Flomo scored two straight layups to keep Telekom Bonn trailing by one point, 19-20 and 21-22, but Haluk Yildrim buried free throws to make it a 21-24 edge after 10 minutes for Besiktas. Engin Atsur opened the second period with a three-point play and Yildrim soon launched Besiktas with a three-pointer. Artur Kolodziejski did the same for Bonn but Newley hit two bombs from downtown to put Besiktas in double digits, 25-38, and then Yildrim blasted a new one in a good night for the guests from the arc, 5 of 11 at that point. Bryce Taylor finally managed to add some points to Bonn's column from downtown, but Besiktas dominated the last minutes of the second quarter to hit the lockerrooms with a 36-51 edge.

Tim Ohlbrecht and Ensminger started the second half on a more positive note for Telekom Bonn, but Besiktas, with two threes by Atsur and Fletcher made sure nobody thought things were changing anytime soon. Besiktas reached its 10th three of the night to maintain a 15-point lead, 52-67, despite all the efforts of the Bonn team. Alex King kept trying from downtown, and Flomo and Taylor joined in to score for the hosts, but after 30 minutes it was still 59-73. Flomo was still strong in the start for the last quarter, and when Ensminger and Kolodziejski added four more points, Bonn was below the 10-point mark for the first time after many minutes, 67-74. Ensminger scored yet again for the 10-1 run in the quarter sending some hope to the fans in the stands. Newley hit it for Besiktas but a new King three and Ensminger's new layup made it a two-point affair, 74-76, with less than 4 minutes to go. When Kolodziejski tied the game at 76-76 and Johannes Strasser completed the 19-3 comeback with his bucket for 78-76, the fans at Telekom Dome could hardly believe what they were seeing. Strasser scored again to even increase the cushion, but Atsur soon blasted a three to bring Besiktas back from the dead. Free throws by Yildrim and Adem Oren allowed the guests to re-gain the lead, 80-81, but Bonn's timeout allowe Ensminger to find the space for a basket but a new three by Newley came in the best moment possible for Besiktas, 82-84. With seconds to go. However, there was still enough time for Telekom Bonn to try a final play for the win, and when Strasser blasted the final three, the Telekom Bonn fans exploded in joy as their team, finally added a win in their column in the very last play of the season.

"This was an interesting night. Besiktas played better as a team for the first 30 minutes. In the last 10 minutes we changed our defense and brought more energy to the game. I am happy with the end of the game but I want my team to play 40 minutes like we played the last quarter. I know that we won by a lucky shot from Strasser. In my opinion we played better in Eurocup this year than in Eurochallenge last season where we reached the quarterfinals."
BIYIKTAY, BURAK
Besiktas ColaTurka
"Tonight we played very well even though we lost the game. Our mistake was that we could not catch the game at the end. We were hit by injuries but we wanted to play good basketball although this game did not count for both teams. I want to congratulate Bonn and coach Michael Koch."

Players

FLOMO, PATRICK
Telekom Bonn
"Tonight we showed our fans that we fight until the last minute of the game no matter what. We were 18 points behind but did not give up. The last shot was very lucky but I think we deserved this win today after so many close games in the past. Thanks to our fans. They were great tonight."
