Sekou Doumbouya - U18 INSEP Paris - Final Four Berlin 2016 - EB15

U18 INSEP Paris finished its 2016 EUROLEAGUE BASKETBALL ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT Finals in convincing fashion by racing past U18 Mega Bemax Belgrade 65-97 for its second victory in Group A. Bathiste Tchouaffe and Sekou Doumbouya both scored 19 points to pace 6 INSEP players in double figures. Jaylen Hoard had 14 points while Thimotee Bazille and Olivier Sarr both hit for 12 points and Ivan Fevrier chipped in 10 points. INSEP point guard Ludovic Beyhurst went scoreless but dished out 10 assists as INSEP improved to 2-1 in the group - though it was clear before the game that the 2010 ANGT champion could not reach the final. Mega meanwhile dropped to 0-3 in its first ANGT Finals despite Novak Music collecting 25 points and 5 assists and Aleksa Matic scoring 12 points. The 2000-born talent Marko Pecarski was held to 8 points and 3 rebounds.

Tchouaffe started the game with a three-pointer with Music hitting for Mega to make it 2-3. Tchouaffe knocked down another three-ball and Sarr scored 2 baskets as INSEP went on an 0-11 run to move ahead 2-14. Mega missed 7 straight shots and turned the ball over once in a 4:35 minute scoreless stretch before Pecarski finally got another score for the Serbian side. Tchouaffe added another triple and Doumbouya hit for a 6-23 advantage. Doumbouya connected on a three-ball and another basket as the lead grew to 11-30. Uros Plavsic finished the first quarter with a three-pointer to make it 14-30. Doumbouya and Yanik Blanc combined for the first 8 points of the second quarter as INSEP was up 14-38. Goga Bitadze got Mega on the scoreboard and Music made it 18-38. But the French side continued to convert offensively with Hoard hitting a long ball, Bazille converting a three-point play and Tchouaffe nailing another triple as the cushion swelled to 27-53. Hoard knocked down another three-pointer to push the margin to 29-56 and Mega trailed 31-56 at intermission.

INSEP continued to roll in the second half with 10 straight points to move ahead 34-70. Luka Vasic picked up 3 points to get the gap down to 38-71 before Bazille and Fevrier scored to make it 38-74. Mega did manage to score the next 7 points but it really wasn’t a dent in the gap at 45-74. The lead was 46-76 after 30 minutes. Music started the fourth quarter with a three-ball but INSEP answered with the next 6 points as the gap was 49-82. Music and Vasic both hit three-pointers as Mega got the deficit down to 61-88. But INSEP just was too deep as Fevrier scored 4 points and 2001-born Theo Maledon finished the game for INSEP with a three-pointer.
