In a big battle in Group G, MZT Skopje Aerodrom registered its first-ever Eurocup win by edging Kalev Cramo Tallinn 79-70 at home on Wednesday. Todor Gecevski paced the winners with 16 points. Stefan Sinovec added 14, Gjorgji Cekovski and Alexandar Kostoski each had 13 while Cade Davis got 10 for Skopje. Ty Abbott had 14 points for Kalev, which dropped to 0-4. Rain Veideman and Devin Gibson each added 11 for the guests, who led 15-17 after 10 minutes and kept a 33-35 lead at halftime. An outstanding Gecevski allowed Skopje to get a 46-37 margin late in the third quarter. Kalev did not give up, however, and a basket by Gibson tied the game at 66-66. Sinovec and Gecevski each had 4 points in a final 13-4 run which allowed Skopje to celebrate a truly historical win!
Gecevski got Skopje going with a jumper but Abbott led a 0-7 run which gave Kalev a 2-7 lead. Davis and Damjan Stojanovski tried to change things for the hosts but Bamba Fall and Vlad Moldoveanu kept their team ahead, 7-14. Kostoski and Cekovski stepped up to bring Skopje closer, 15-16, and a free throw by Tanel Sokk fixed the score at 15-17 after 10 minutes. Davis and Justin Reynolds put Skopje back ahead, 19-17, early in the second quarter. Frank Elegar led a 0-6 run to restore a 19-23 edge. Reynolds kept pacing the hosts and a three-pointer by Sinovec gave Skopje a 26-25 lead. Gibson and Fall shined late in the first half and Sokk gave Kalev a 30-33 edge. Free throws by Veideman kept the guests ahead, 33-35, at halftime. Gecevski led a 6-0 run that gave Skopje a 39-35 lead right after the break. Skele scored again but an unstoppable Gecevski and free throws by Sinovec boosted the hosts' lead to 46-37. Elegar brought Kalev within 48-44 but Sinovec and Cekovski kept the hosts way ahead, 56-47. Skele and Veideman made it a three-point game, 56-53, after 30 minutes. Fall brought the guests even closer, 58-57, early in the fourth quarter. Kostoski and Davis tried to change things for the hosts but a layup by Gibson tied the game, 66-66, with over 4 minutes left. Skopje improved its defense right when it mattered, as Sinovec and Gecevski stepped up with a couple of baskets apiece in crunch time, allowing Skopje to win the game.
