Dominion BB rolls past Nanterre to remain among Group A leaders

Dominion Bilbao Basket ensured itself at least a share of first place in Group A with a key 52-83 road win over JSF Nanterre on Tuesday. After starting with a 0-13 lead, the men in black cruised the rest of the way in improving to 4-2. The result dropped Nanterre to 3-3. Clevin Hannah led the winners with 20 points, Alex Mumbru and Alex Suarez scored 14 points apiece and Dairis Bertans added 11. Mam Jaiteh paced Nanterre with 12 points and Tasmin Mitchell posted 11.

Dominion started in fine form by holding Nanterre scoreless for more than three minutes, while Alex Mumbru and Suarez gave the visitors a 0-13 start. Jaiteh scored for the hosts and Mykal Riley added a second basket, but Hannah pushed the difference to 4-20. Gerald Robinson scored the next 5 points to end the quarter at 9-20. Jeremy Nzeulie brought the hosts within 9, but Raul Lopez soon had the men in black back in control at 13-27. Robinson rallied the hosts back to within 9, but an Alex Ruoff triple and Hannah layup restored a double-digit lead. Mumbru and Hannah traded shots with Jaiteh as halftime hit with the visitors up 29-44.

Bertans scored 5 quick points to boost the difference to 17 early in the third quarter. Suarez and Hannah lifted the visitors to 35-57 midway through the third quarter. Riley and Jaiteh could only do little to slow down the visitors, who led by 25 on Giorgios Bogris’s put-back. Mitchell’s three-point play and a Bogris free throw made it 42-65 through three quarters. Any lingering doubts about the outcome vanished when Hannah’s triples and a Ruoff jumper painted a 30-point difference with five minutes to go and the visitors coasted the rest of the way.

DONNADIEU, PASCAL
JSF Nanterre
"I'd firstly like to thank the public, who supported us all game long even if our performance was pretty bad. Bilbao taught us a basketball lesson at all points. Tonight we played a no-game, but I do not want to use the situation to explain this. Quite the opposite, we had to offer a great image and to fight. To finish, I say it again, but Bilbao is a brilliant team."
ALONSO, SITO
Dominion Bilbao Basket
"It is difficult to explain how I feel now because of the events around the game. We wanted to come and play this game because we respect this team and this country. We played with a lot of energy and we now have to improve one thing: winning at home. Congratulations to my players and thank you to Nanterre, who took care of us in such a difficult situation."
