Jerome Jordan - Hemofarm StadaHemofarm Stada dominated Cedevita Zagreb 86-73 to start Last 16 Group I with a big win. The game was not as close as the final score would indicate, with the hosts leading by as many as 31 points before a late Cedevita rally. Hemofarm dominated inside and outrebounded Cedevita 47-24. Much of the damage was done in the first half, when Hemofarm grabbed 13 offensive boards and outrebounded its opponent 30-9 en route to a 50-29 halftime advantage.Jerome Jordan paced the winners with 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting plus 7 rebounds. Milos Borisov added 12 as all 11 Hemofarm players that took the floor scored. Hemofarm visits Gran Canaria 2014 next week. Bracey Wright scored 18 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter to lead the visitors. Trent Plaisted added 11 and Dontaye Draper and Tomislav Petrovic scored 10 each in defeat. Cedevita returns home to host Unics Kazan in Last 16, Week 2.

Cedevita looked to grab the momentum early after Wright grabbed a loose ball and found Corsley Edwards inside, but Jordan rejected his shot and then Draper missed from outside. Hemofarm also missed its first few shots before Borisov converted. Then Jordan scored inside and Mustafa Abdul-Hamid made it 7-0 with a triple. Wright answered with the visitors first points, but another Abdul-Hamid three kept the hosts cruising. Miljan Pavkovic soon put Hemofarm up 10 with a layup and Jordan and Borisov pushed it to 19-5. Tomislav Petrovic and Robert Troha tried to counter for Cedevita, but there was no answer for Jordan, who racked up his 10th point. Pavkovic added a triple as the lead soared to 32-15 after 10 minutes. Marko Sutalo opened the next quarter with a three to make it a 20-point game. Cedevita responded with 7 quick points as Plaisted started to make an impact inside and Damjan Rudez scored from behind the arc. But Boris Savovic and Uros Petrovic injected energy into Hemofarm, which answered with 8 straight points. Draper finally got on the board with a three late in the half, but Mladen Jeremic also connected from downtown and Hemofarm took a 50-29 lead into the break.

Despite its convincing lead, Hemofarm did not let up. Bojan Krstovic sank a three to open the second half and a Jordan slam made it 57-31. Wright and Rudez tried to spark the guests, but Hemofarm steamrolled on with Borisov stretching the lead to 27. Borisov made it 66-35 before Draper nailed a second three. Tomislav Petrovic ended the quarter with a triple to minimize the damage at 69-43. Wright followed with another three to conclude a 1-9 push. A pair of scores from Uros Petrovic and Abdul-Hamid let the visitors know who was in charge. Wright never quit and helped Cedevita rally a bit, eventually closing the gap to 78-64. And Plaisted made it a 12-point game in the closing minutes, but the outcome was never really in doubt as Hemofarm celebrated a great showing to start the Last 16.

Hemofarm Stada
"That was only the first half of our two games because we have to face Cedevita again in two days in the Adriatic League. It is hard to beat one team twice in only three days. Cedevita is a much better team than it showed tonight. We opened the game in style and we controlled the game all the way. That was the key for our win. Some Hemofarm players were afraid to take responsibility. We had a huge winning margin and I think they were relaxed. That does not work in serious gamess we are going to play. "
PETROVIC, ALEKSANDAR
Cedevita Zagreb
"In the first half Hemofarm grabbed an incredible 30 rebounds and we were limited to 9 and that tells a lot. We lacked a will to rebound. We were out of concentration. All Hemofarm players did what they wanted on our boards and in our paint and it caused huge margin. At the beginning of the second half it smelled like we are going to lose by over 50 points, but at the end it was only 13. Because Hemofarm slowed the rhythm. There is no excuse for our bad performance. We missed Vukusic who is an important player in our rotation, but other players have to play harder, much harder."
