Red Star Belgrade pounded Beghetti Bologna 99-66 on Tuesday to retain a share of first place in Group F of the ULEB Cup. The hosts shot 50% from downtown as they started the game with a 12-2 run and never looked back. Red Star improved to 3-1 and shares the top spot in the group with Dynamo Moscow. Next week Red Star visits Belgian champion Telindus Oostende. Meanwhile Beghetti fell to 1-3 and hosts Panellinios GS in Week 5. Tadija Dragicevic scored 21 points to lead six Red Star scorers in double figures. Miroslav Raicevic added 17 points and 7 rebounds, Omar Cook had 14 points and 5 assists, Boris Bakic scored 12, Mirko Kovac 11 and Nenad Misanovic 10. Horace Jenkins led Bologna with 18 and Dante Calabria had 13.

Boris Bakic of Red Star scored once from the line and Kovac added a triple as the hosts left Beghetti scoreless for almost three minutes. James Thomas finally scored Bologna's first points, but Kovac added another bomb and Beghetti committed another turnover as the guests had problems in transition. The gap grew to 12-2 as Red Star surprised Bologna with aggressive defense. Oscar Torres of Beghetti committed his third personal foul in the seventh minute and Kovac scored his third triple. Jenkins answered with a bomb on the other side, but Dragicevic hit a triple at the buzzer and Red Star led 29-15 after 10 minutes. Beghetti switched to zone with Dalibor Bagaric in the middle, but Dragicevic punished it with his second bomb. Miroslav Raicevic added a three as the lead blossomed to 48-26. Elmedin Kikanovic joined with 4 straight points in a 9-0 run as Red Star surged to a 57-32 halftime lead. Dragicevic took the lead over the 30-point mark early in the second half and the rout was on. When Misanovic, Raicevic and Bakic scored during a 12-0 run at the beginning of final period, the gap was 49 points and the rest of the game became for protocol only. Calabria helped Beghetti score 11 straight to make the final score less insulting as the home fans celebrated an impressive win.

Head Coaches

KARADZIC, STEVAN
Red Star
"We played a very good game. First of all in defense. Beghelli was not at its best. After our excellent defensive work we had lot of open three-pointers and that was the key. The return of Miroslav Raicevic means a lot to us. Tadija Dragicevic was injuried for days but he played very well, too. That was a thrilling night."
MAZZON, ANDREA
Fortitudo Bologna
"We were terrible. Phisically we had a lot of problems. The fact is that we had a lot of problems in every aspect of the game. Our defense was completely zero. Compliments to Red Star and that's it."

Players

BAKIC, BORIS
Red Star
"We played with maximum concentration both in defense and offense. I did not expected such an easy job because Beghelli is a much better team than it was tonight. I hope we shall have more nights like this."
