Valencia to miss Ribas for three weeks
Pau Ribas - Valencia Basket (photo Valencia Basket) - EC12_41313Valencia Basket Club, a two-time Eurocup champion and semifinalist last season, must start this one without experienced guard Pau Ribas, who suffered a sprained ankle and will likely miss at least the first three games of the regular season. Ribas (1.96 meters, 26 years old) was injured in a practice before the team's Spanish League opening game Sunday. He is expected to be off the court three weeks. Ribas was one of the best off-the-bench producers in the Eurocup last season, averaging 11.7 points, 3.3 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 24 minutes per game. He ranked fourth among all Eurocup players by making 90.9% of his free throws. Ribas won the Eurocup title in 2008 with his first team, DKV Joventut Badalona, with whom he debuted in the Euroleague the next season. He then spent three seasons with Laboral Kutxa Vitoria, making the playoffs in the first two, before moving to Valencia last year.
