On Wednesday night, Panionios Athens picked up a valuable road win that could be worth a Last 32 spot. In its 78-86 victory over Neptunas Klaipeda, the Greek club enjoyed the invaluable leadership of Marc Carter, who shined with a performance index rating of 34, which proved to be the highest among players on winning teams and earned him the competition’s weekly MVP honor. Carter did everything on court for Panionios: he scored 29 points (5 of 7 two-pointers, 5 of 6 threes, 4 of 5 free throws), pulled down 4 rebounds, dished 7 assists and drew 3 fouls. Next in line were two players tied with index ratings of 32 each: Jared Berggren of Telenet Ostend and Earl Rowland of Banvit Bandirma. Berggren scored 24 points on 10-of-12 two-point shooting plus 6 boards, while Rowland netted 20 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. The highest overall index for the week came from Andrija Zizic, who amassed a 37 for Cibona Zagreb in a loss at Artland Dragons. Zizic posted 27 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists.
Individual highs: D.J. Cooper of PAOK Thessaloniki, 13 assists
Carter was also the best scorer of the week thanks to his 29 points against Neptunas. Two players pulled 13 boards to claim the top of the weekly rankings: Aykon TED Ankara Kolejliler's Vladimir Golubovic (9 offensive and 4 defensive) and Spartak St. Petersburg's Jared Homan (11 and 2). As for assists, D.J. Cooper of PAOK Thessaloniki dished 13, tied for the most in a game this season! On the defensive end, Quinton Hosley of Virtus Rome and Marko Marinovic of Radnicki Kragujevac had 6 steals each, while two players led the way in blocks with 4 stops apiece: Berggren and Gergely Somogyi of Alba Fehervar.
