Khimki Moscow Region’s victory over Montepaschi Siena set a new standard in winning in Eurocup history. Khimki won its 14th consecutive Eurocup game to set the competition record. The previous record, 13 straight wins, was established by Unics Kazan earlier this season. Khimki lost its first Eurocup game of the season, but then reeled off nine wins in a row to finish the regular season and has now won its first five Last 32 contests. Coach Rimas Kurtinaitis’s men will have a chance to extend the record further when they visit Maccabi Haifa Bazan in next week’s Group K finale.
