The Eurocup Eighthfinals are at a halt for now in the midpoint after Game 1. There were results for all tastes with some blowouts and some narrow wins, but when the dust settled, Darjus Lavrinovic of Budivlenik Kiev, who played its home game in Kaunas, Lithuania, emerged as weekly MVP thans to a performance with an index rating of 38, the highest this week among all winning players. Lavrinovic led his team to a 86-82 win over JSF Nanterre by scoring 28 points - including 8 of 11 two-point shots -, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 blocks and 7 drawn fouls. Next in line this week was another big man who led his team to a Game 1 win, Boban Marjanovic of Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade. Marjanovic had a performance with index rating 33 thanks to his 21 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 9 drawn fouls. Andrew Goudelock of Unics Kazan added another great performance this season with an index rating of 32, his highest so far in the competition, to lead Unics to a huge win thanks to his 36 points - including 6 of 12 threes - and 3 assists.
Individual highs: Andrew Goudelock of Unics Kazan, 36 points
It comes as no surprise that Goudelock was also the top scorer this week among all players with his 36 points. Goudelock hit 8 of 11 two-pointers, 6 of 12 threes and 2 of 2 free throws for another career high in the Eurocup for him. Two more players followed him with 28 points apiece, Lavrinovic and Chris Lofton of Besiktas Integral Forex Istanbul. Up to five players rebounded in double digits this week. Aykon TED Ankara Kolejliler's Vladimir Golubovic and Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari's Drew Gordon pulled 11 apiece. Three more followed with 10 each: Semen Antonov of Nizhny Novgorod, Matt HOward of Ratiopharm Ulm and Johan Passave of JSF Nanterre. Travis Diener of Dinamo Sassari and Taylor Rochestie of Nizhny Novgorod led all passers with 8 assists each. Omar Cook of Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius led players on the defensive end with his 4 steals this week. Finally, Lavrinovic again and Artsiom Parakhouski of Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem had 3 blocks apiece to lead the category this week.
