Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar reached an agreement with head coach Sergey Bazarevich to work together until the end of the 2016-17, the club announced Tuesday. Bazarevich, age 49, arrives from Krasnye Krylia Samara, to which he has coached since 2011. He helped Samara win back-to-back Russian Cup titles in 2012 and 2013, as well as lifting the FIBA EuroChallenge trophy in 2013. Bazarevich has also coached Standard, CSKA's youth team and Dynamo Moscow in his native Russia. He had a legendary playing career in six different countries, as well as being a star of the newborn Russian national team in the early 1990s. Bazarevich helped Russia get silver medals at the 1994 and 1998 FIBA World Cups, as well as in EuroBasket 1993. "I am glad to join one of the best Russian and European clubs, which has developed stedily and successfully in recent years. I promise to make every effort to ensure that the team plays good, entertaining basketball," Bazarevich said. "Do not expect me to come and accomplish miracles. I promise to give everyone a chance but first and foremost, the players' development depends on players themselves. Our path will not always be smooth, but it will definitely be very interesting."
