BK Banvit Bandirma hired Zoran Lukic as its new head coach. Lukic, 43, arrives from Nizhny Novgorod, where he spent the last five years and led the team from the second division to a berth in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague. He replaces Dimitris Itoudis, who took the head coaching job at CSKA Moscow last month. Lukic led Nizhny to the top league in Russia, the Russian Cup final in 2011 and the Eurocup semifinals and VTB United League finals last season. Under Lukic, Nizhny Novgorod compiled a 15-5 record in its Eurocup debut this past season before being eliminated in a two-game semifinals series against the eventual champion Valencia BC. A native of Serbia, Lukic was also in charge of the Indian national team in 2006.
