CSU Asesoft Ploiesti adds Labovic to frontline

CSU Asesoft Ploiesti showed its intentions this season with the signing of power forward Dragan Labovic. The contract is for one season. Labovic (2.07 meters, 27 years old) is a veteran of the Eurocup havinf taken part in six editions of the competition and reaching the semifinals in 2007. He split the past season among three clubs, starting with AZS Koszalin in Poland, where he averaged 12.1 points and 4.3 rebounds in 10 games. Labovic then suited up for Aliaga Petkim in Turkey, where he tallied 15.7 points and 6.7 rebounds in seven contests. He finished the season with a brief stay at Al Riyadi in Lebanon.
Labovic is a product of the youth setup at Zdravlje Leskovac in his native Serbia. He signed for FMP Zeleznik when he was just 15 and spent parts of eight seasons there – including a spell on loan at Borac Cacak – before joining Aris Thessaloniki in January 2010. His best season was in 2008-09, when Labovic led the Adriatic League in scoring with 18.0 points per game. Labovic later played for Frankfurt Skyliners in Germany and Enisey Krasnoyarsk, Krasnye Krylia and Nizhny Novgorod in Russia. With FMP Labovic won a pair of Serbian Cups and the 2004 Adriatic League.
