Baloncesto Seville signs Byars, Watts

Baloncesto Seville stayed active in the off-season market by inking swingman Derrick Byars and power forward Dane Watts on Saturday. Byars (2.01 meters, 30 years old) arrives from Belfius Mons-Hainaut, where he averaged 10 points and 3.2 rebounds in 10 Belgian League games last season. He started the 2013-14 season with Memphis of the NBA and also played for Krasny Oktabr Volgograd of Russia and Bakersfield of the D-League before joining Mons-Hainaut. Byars made it to the 2009-10 Eurocup title game with Alba Berlin, averaging 7.7 points in 15 games. Byars has also played for Caciques de Humacao of Puerto Rico, San Antonio of the NBA, Cholet Basket and Chorale Roanne of France, Guaiqueries de Margarita of Venezuela, Panellinios Athens of Greece and Koeln 99ers of Germany. He helped Alba win the German Cup title in 2013. Watts (2.03 meters, 28 years old) arrives from Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt, where he averaged 11.5 points and 6.8 rebounds in 4 German League games last season. He played the 2012-13 Eurocup with Ratiopharm Ulm, averaging 8.3 points and 4.1 rebounds in 7 games. Watts has also played for EnBW Ludwigsburg and Walter Tigers Tuebingen in Germany, as well as for Hyeres-Toulon in France. He helped Ulm reach the German League finals in 2012 and the Eurocup quarterfinals in 2013.
