Popovic is Eurocup's three-point king
Marko Popovic - Khimki Moscow Region

Marko Popovic of Khimki Moscow Region further cemented his place in Eurocup history on Wednesday as he overtook Todor Stoykov to become the Eurocup’s all-time leader in three-pointers made. Popovic, 32, knocked down 3 threes in his team’s 86-89 loss at Zenit St. Petersburg to give him 173 for his career. The record appears safe for some time, since the next player on the list active in the Eurocup this season, Julius Jenkins of EWE Baskets Oldenburg, is fifth with 136 threes. Popovic has made at least 1 three-pointer in 17 straight Eurocup games, so his lead should only grow. The 2011 Eurocup Final MVP after leading Unics Kazan to the title, Popovic has tormented the Eurocup record book despite this being just his sixth season in the competition. He is also ranked fourth all-time in assists with 273 and fifth in scoring with 988 career points. Popovic made his Eurocup debut with boyhood club KK Zadar in the 2002-03 season. He next played three Eurocup seasons for Unics Kazan between 2008 and 2011 before spending the past two seasons with Khimki. In Wednesday’s game, Popovic came off the bench and tied the record with his first three early in the second quarter. He sank the record-breaking triple midway through the fourth quarter as he brought Khimki within 72-70 and added a third in the closing seconds.
