Krasny Oktyabr retools with Hamilton, McGrath

Krasny Oktyabr Volgograd retooled its lineup with the signings of center Lamont Hamilton and guard Donnie McGrath, who both arrive from Turkish Airlines Euroleague clubs. Hamilton (2.08 meters, 30 years old) arrives from Laboral Kutxa Vitoria, where he averaged 4 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1 block in four Euroleague games this season. Hamilton was last in the Eurocup during the 2012-13 season, when he shined for Bilbao Basket. He helped Bilbao reach the title game against Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar with averages of 13.2 points and 5.2 rebounds in 17 games and was chosen to the 2012-13 All-Eurocup Second Team. Hamilton had joined Bilbao from Paris-Levallois of the French League. He played college basketball at St. John's University before beginning his professional career in the Spanish second division with Inca and Tenerife. He spent three seasons with Paris-Levallois and helped the team make the French League playoffs twice.

McGrath (1.93 meters, 30 years old) comes from Anadolu Efes Istanbul, which he joined just after the start of the season. He went on to post 4 points and 1 assist over 14 minutes in a reserve role. McGrath is a veteran of three past Eurocup seasons, including last year when he averaged 10.8 points and 5.1 assists in 10 Eurocup games for Spartak St. Petersburg. McGrath debuted in the Euroleague during the 2007-08 season for Virtus Bologna of Italy, putting up 7.6 points on average over 10 games. He also joined Zalgiris Kaunas for the last six games of the 2012-13 Top 16, contributing 4.5 points per game. Oktyabr becomes McGrath's 14th club since he started his pro career in Europe in 2006.
