Brose Baskets Bamberg improved its backcourt by signing point guard Dawan Robinson for the remainder of the season, the club announced Tuesday. Robinson (1.88 meters, 32 years old) arrives from OpenjobMetis Varese, where he averaged 16.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 15 Italian League games this season. He has also played for GreenTops Netanya in Israel, Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt in Germany, Trenkwalder Reggio Emilia, Prima Veroli and Reyer Venezia in Italy, Erie Bay of the D-League, Slask Wroclaw in Poland and Limoges CSP in France. He played the 2007-08 ULEB Cup with Slask and averaged 13.1 points and 2.8 assists in 12 games. Robinson also helped Reggio Emilia win the Italian second division championship in 2012. He will be eligible to play in the Eurocup starting next week, with Last 32 Round 4.
"With Dawan, we have found the perfect solution for us," head coach Andrea Trinchieri said. "Dawan's job is to strengthen our backcourt and play defense. We expect him to help the team and to understand what the team needs from him as soon as possible."
