Khimki Moscow Region announced a new agreement with team captain Sergey Monia, whose contract was extended until the end of the 2017-18 season. Monia (2.02 meters, 31 years old) joined Khimki in 2010 and is set to spend the best part of his career with the Russian powerhouse. He is averaging 7.5 points and 5.1 rebounds in 17 Eurocup games this season. Monia started his career with Autodorozhnik Saratov and also played for CSKA Moscow and Dynamo Moscow of Russia, Forth Worth of the D-League, as well as for Portland and Sacramento of the NBA. He helped Khimki win the Eurocup title in 2012 and also lifted the VTB League trophy in 2011. Monia also won three consecutive Russian League titles and reached three straight Final Fours with CSKA from 2003 to 2005. Monia has been a regular member of the Russian national team, helping it win bronze medals at EuroBasket 2011 and the 2012 Olympic Games. Monia ranks 8th in the Eurocup's all-time rebounds list (374) and ties for fourth place in blocks (77).
