Nizhny Novgorod kept working hard to put together a competitive team by inking big man Kaspars Berzins to a two-year deal on Tuesday. Berzins (2.13 meters, 29 years old) arrives from Krasnye Krylia Samara, where he averaged 14.9 points and 7.9 rebounds in 20 VTB League games last season. He brings in planty of Eurocup experience, as he played four seasons in the competition - one with Barons/LMT Riga and three more with VEF Riga. Berzins has also played for Rio Natura Monbus Obradoiro Santiago de Compostela, Baloncesto Fuenlabrada, Caceres 2016 and Unicaja Malaga in Spain, as well as for BK Riga and Skonto Riga in his native Latvia. He is also a regular member of the Latvian national team. Berzins helped Barons win the FIBA Eurocup and the Latvian League titles in 2008. He also lifted three consecutive Latvian League trophies with VEF from 2011 to 2013.
