Steaua CSM EximBank Bucharest added a defensive-minded center with some Eurocup experience when it signed Chris Cooper for the coming season. Cooper (2.05 meters, 25 years old) remains in Romania after winning that country’s championship with CSU Asesoft Ploiești last season. In 16 Eurocup games, he averaged 3.3 point, 4.3 rebounds and 0.8 blocks in just 13 minutes per game. He was fourth in the competition in blocked shots per minute with an average of 2.47 blocks prorated over 40 minutes and sixth in per-minute rebounding with 12.9 per 40 minutes. Cooper played college basketball at Old Dominion from 2008 to 2012, made his professional debut with the D-League’s Bakersfield Jam in 2012-13 and the following season played his first campaign in Europe with Siauliai in Lithuania.
