Aris Thessaloniki brought second off-season addition to its roster by signing a veteran point guard Vasilis Xanthopoulos to a two-year deal, club announced on Friday. A former Euroleague champion with Panathinaikos Athens and Eurocup finalist in 2009 with Panellinios Athens, Xanthopoulos (1.86 meters, 31 years old) arrives from Panionios Athens where last year finished tied first in the Greek League in steals (1.6) and ranked third in assists (5.4). He also averaged 6.8 points and 2.5 rebounds over 27 games. For Xanthopoulos that was his third stint with Panionios, and during his career he was three different times member of Panathinaikos, too, including 2006-07 season when the Greens went on to win the continental title. Xanthopoulos grew up with Olympiacos Piraeus, but made his professional debut with Near East. He also played for PAOK Thessaloniki in Greece, and Obradoiro in Spain. He has played 39 Eurocup games over three seasons, one with Panionios and two with Panellinios.
