Gran Canaria keeps power forward Baez
Herbalife Gran Canaria Las Palmas reached a new agreement with power forward Eulis Baez to stay together until the end of the 2016-17 season, the club announced Thursday. Baez (2.01 meters, 33 years old) averaged 9.4 points and 5.5 rebounds in 22 Eurocup games last season, his first in the competition and third in the club. He helped Gran Canaria reach the Eurocup Finals and also took the team to the Spanish League semifinals and the Copa del Rey semifinals in 2013. Baez started his professional career with Akasvayu Vic of Spain and has also played for Leon, Joventut Badalona and Valladolid of Spain and Los Mina, San Lazaro and Leones de Santo Dominfo in his native Dominican Republic. He helped the Dominican Republic national team win CentroBasket 2012 and get a bronze medal at the 2011 FIBA Americas tournament.
