Gran Canaria brings back Savane
A familiar face returns to Herbalife Gran Canaria Las Palmas with the announcement that center Sitapha Savane signed a one-year deal with last season's Eurocup finalists. Savane (2.01 meters, 36 years old) played for Gran Canaria from 2004 to 2012 and becoming a fan favorite. He played seven Eurocup seasons with Gran Canaria and accumulated 522 points and 301 rebounds in 68 games. Savane ranks eighth all-time in Eurocup blocks with 63. He arrives from FIATC Joventut Badalona, where he played for the last three seasons. Savane averaged 8.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 33 Spanish League games last season and helped his team reach the Copa del Rey semifinals. He has also played for Menorca Basquet and Tenerife Baloncesto in Spain. Savane has been a member of the Senegalese national team, too.
