Zenit St. Petersburg added depth to its backcourt with the signing of shooting guard Aleksandr Karpukhin, club announced Monday. Kaprukhin (1.91 meters, 25 yers old) arrives from Ural Ekaterinburg where last year in the Russian Superleague averaged 13.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists. After starting his career with Dynamo Moscow second team, Karpukhin spent most of his career playing for Avtodor Saratov. He also played for Ryazan, Spartak Vidnoye Moscow Region and Ataman Rostov. Last season was his second stint with Ural, and Karpukhin is now set to make his Eurocup debut with Zenit, which - interestingly - opens the upcoming regular season against Avtodor Saratov.
