Buducnost VOLI Podgorica shored up its frontline by signing center Aleks Maric, who is on the short list of players that have won both the Euroleague and Eurocup in the past. Maric (2.11 meters, 30 years old) comes off an eventful season in which he played for two Euroleague clubs, another in Iran and finished the season in Spain. Maric debuted in the Euroleague with Partizan Belgrade in the 2009-10 season; he was named to the All-Euroleague First Team that season after helping Partizan reach the Euroleague Final Four. He then spent two seasons with Panathinaikos Athens, with whom he won the 2011 Euroleague championship and two years with Lokomotiv Kuban Kranodar, with whom he won the 2013 Eurocup. Maric opened the 2014-15 campaign with Maccabi Tel Aviv and joined Galatasaray Istanbul prior to the Euroleague Top 16. That was followed by a sting with Petrochimi Bandar Imam in Iran and Maric wrapped up his season with Herbalife Gran Canaria Las Palmas in the Spanish League. He has made 86 Euroleague appearances in his career. In Maric’s lone Eurocup campaign, he averaged 11.4 points and 7.3 rebounds over 14 games for Lokomotiv in 2012-13. Maric has also featured on the Australian Olympic team at the FIBA World Championships and the Olympic games.
