AEK Athens added fire power to its roster by inking point guard Malcolm Armstead for the remainder of the season, the club announced Tuesday. Armstead (1.83 meters, 26 years old) arrives from Avtodor Saratov, where he averaged 13 points on 55.6% three-point shooting, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals in 4 Eurocup games this season. Therefore, Armstead is not eligible to join AEK in the Eurocup until the Last 32. He played for Krka Novo Mesto in the past two seasons. Armstead led the Adriatic League in scoring with 17.6 points and steals with 2.12 per game last season. He was also fifth in assists (4.3 apg.) and was named to the All-ABA League Ideal Five at the end of the season. In his time with Novo Mesto, Armstead led the team to the 2014 Slovenian League crown and a pair of Slovenian Cup titles. Armstead played college basketball at Wichita State University and was the 2013 West Regional MVP in leading the Shockers to the NCAA Final Four.
