CAI Zaragoza finds new coach in Casadevall
CAI Zaragoza announced the arrival of a new head coach, none other than Andreu Casadevall, who replaced Joaquin Ruiz on Monday. Casadevall, age 53, arrives from San Pablo Inmobiliaria Burgos, where he worked since 2008. He signed for the remainder of the season, with a club option to stay one more year. Casadevall helped Burgos win two Spanish second division (LEB Oro) titles in 2013 and 2015, also being the playoffs winner in 2014. He started his career with CajaBadajoz and also coached Ferrys Lliria, Breogan Lugo, Peñas Huesca, Baloncesto Fuenlabrada, Lleida, Lucentum Alicante and Ciudad de Huelva. Casadevall won two more Spanish second division titles - with Llitia in 1991 and with Alicante in 2000. Ruiz, age 49, started to coach Zaragoza last season after being the late Jose Luis Abos's assistant for five seasons. By the time he was fired, Zaragoza had a 1-6 record in the Spanish League and ranked second in Group C of the Eurocup regular season at 4-2.
