AEK Athens reached an agreement with point guard D.J. Cooper to work together until the end of the 2016-17 season, the club announced over the weekend. Cooper (1.83 meters, 24 years old) arrives from Krasny Oktyabr Volgograd, where he averaged 17.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and a league-best 10.2 assists in six Eurocup games so far this season. He just had a monster game - 27 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists, 4 steals, 42 PIR - against AEK last week. As such, Cooper is not eligible to play for AEK in the Eurocup until the start of the next phase of the competition, the Last 32, should the team qualify. Cooper started his career PAOK Thessaloniki, averaging 10.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 6.5 assists in 10 Eurocup games in the 2013-14 season. He has also played for Panathinaikos Athens of Greece and Enisey Krasnoyarsk of Russia.
