Valencia keeps Stefansson through end of season

Three-time Eurocup champion Valencia Basket has announced that shooting guard Jon Stefansson's contract has been extended to the end of the season. Stefansson (1.95 meters, 33 years old) joined Valencia on a three-month basis in September to substitute injured guard Antoine Diot, who has since returned. Stefansson has since appeared in all nine Eurocup games for Valencia, averaging 6.4 points and 2.1 assists in more than 17 minutes per game. At 9-0, Valencia is the Eurocup's only undefeated team. Stefansson averaged 5.1 points in 20 Euroleague games last season for Unicaja Malaga and 6-2 in 14 Eurocup games the season before that in CAI Zaragoza. He also played in the Euroleague for Lottomatica Roma from 2006 to 2008 and scored 10 points per game in his last season there.
