Trabzonspor revamps backcourt with Kitchen, Thompson
Trabzonspor Medical Park revamped its backcourt before the start of the Eurocup Last 32, with the additions of veterans Ryan Thompson and Derwin Kitchen, club announced on Wednesday. Two players will fill the positions occupied by Darius Johnson-Odom and Trance Kinsey, who left the club. Combo guard Kitchen (1.93 meters, 29 years old) arrives from the French side SLUC Nancy, team for which this season he started the final five Eurocup regular season games and averaged 11.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.4 steals. In two previous seasons Kitchen played for Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem, helping it win 2015 Isreali League title. He also played professionally for Maccabi Rishon Le Zion in Israel, Panathinaikos Athens in Greece and Cedevita Zagreb of Croatia. Swingman Thompson (1.98 meters, 27 years old) arrives from Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade, where he started in six of 10 Turkish Airlines Euroleague regular season games this season, averaging 4.8 points and 1.6 rebounds. He previously played for Utah of NBDL, Brescia in Italy, Okapi Aalstar and Telenet Ostend in Belgium, and Brose Baskets Bamberg of Germany. So far he has two Eurocup campaigns under his belt, playing 32 games in the previous two seasons with Ostend and Bamberg, with an average of 11.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists.
