AEK Athens improved its backcourt by inking high-scoring guard Mike Dixon to a one-year deal on Tuesday. AEK has an option to extend his contract until the end of the 2017-18 season. Dixon (1.86 meters, 25 years old) arrives from CEZ Basketball Nymburk, where he averaged 14.4 points on 88.1% free throw shooting and 4.6 assists in 31 VTB League games last season. He had similar numbers in the Czech League, averaging 14.5 points and 4.7 assists in 19 games, in leading his team to the title. Dixon started his career with Dzukija Alytus and moved to another Lithuanian team, Pieno Zvaigdzes Pasvalys, before joining Nymburk. Before that, he helped the University of Missouri win the Big 12 Tournament title in 2012. Dixon is set to make his Eurocup debut with AEK next season.
