Valencia Basket captain Rafa Martinez will remain with the club after the sides agreed to a one-year contract extension on Wednesday. Martinez (1.90 meters, 34 years old) enters his ninth season with Valencia. During that time Martinez has helped Valencia win the Eurocup twice, in 2010 and 2014. He averaged 8.4 points on 46.7% three-point shooting in 16 Eurocup games last season will reaching the milestones of both his 100th career Eurocup game and scoring his 1,000 career Eurocup points. Martinez enters the season ranked 10th on the competition’s all-time scoring charts (1,021 points) and second with 180 three-pointers and in games played with 110. He has also started in more Eurocup games than anyone else in the competition, 89. Before finding a home with Valencia, Martinez started his career with Manresa and also suited up for CB Vic and CB Valls Felix Hotel.
