Zenit inks familiar face in Sergeev
Zenit St. Petersburg added depth to its backcourt by signing veteran guard Pavel Sergeev to a one-year deal. Sergeev (1.85 meters), who turns 29 later this summer, has already spent a pair of seasons playing for Zenit, but back in the day when it still carried the name Triumph Lyubertsy, and second of those two campaigns in 2009-10 was also arguably the best season of his career. Sergeev played last two years with Enisey Krasnoyarsk, and last season in VTB League had 5.6 points, 1.7 assists and 1.4 rebounds. Sergeev returns to the city of St.Petersburg where he started his professional career with Spartak. During his career he also had two stints with Unics Kazan, club where he made his Eurocup debut in 2007. With Unics, Triumph and Spartak he played a total of 34 Eurocup games over a span of five seasons, and has a career average of 3.5 points on 37.8% three-point shooting.
