Unicaja Malaga reached a new agreement with playmaker Alberto Diaz to keep working together for three more years, until the end of the 2018-19 season. Diaz (1.89 meters, 22 years old) averaged 2.2 points and 1.2 assists in 23 Turkish Airlines Euroleague last season. Born in Malaga and raised in Unicaja's youth teams, Diaz has played for Clinicas Rincon, Bilbao Basket, Baloncesto Fuenlabrada and Rio Natura Monbus Obradoiro in his native Spain. He has also been a member of the Spanish U16, U18 and U20 national teams. Diaz helped the Spanish U20 national team get a silver medal at the 2014 European Championships. "Extending my contract for three more years brings me great joy. It is very important for me to see that the club trusts me. I am very happy, looking forward to starting a new season at home, in my club, with my people. It is a dream come true," Diaz said. "Our goal will be to fight as much as we can, in every game. I hope it will be a great season for all of us, in which we can rank as high as possible."
